Denmark’s royal household said the new insignia “strengthens the prominence” of the Commonwealth, including Greenland, as Donald Trump again proposes buying the island.

Donald Trump Jr. arrived in Greenland as the president-elect seeks control of the territory from Denmark, whose King Frederik changed the royal coat of arms.

The Danish king has changed the country’s royal coat of arms to display symbols of Greenland and the Faroe Islands more prominently – in an apparent rebuke to Donald Trump.

The three crowns that had been on the coat of arms, the royal family said, had been removed “as it is no longer relevant.”

Trump has spoken openly of his desire to make Greenland a part of the United States- so the King has moved to ensure the autonomous Danish territory is included more prominently alongside the Faroe Islands on his royal badge.

Before President-elect Donald Trump’s latest remarks, King Frederik X signaled his commitment to the territory in a decidedly old-fashioned way.
