The death toll from the attack in Germany — where a man drove a car into shoppers at a high speed during a Christmas market — rose to five people, including a child who was 9 years old, as of Saturday, Dec. 21.

At least five people – including a child – were killed and more than 200 injured after a car plowed into a crowd at a Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg on Friday, local authorities said.

The suspect – a Saudi doctor – intentionally drove into a market teeming with holiday shoppers in what police are calling an attack.
