With its first three episodes back following that lengthy hiatus, "Yellowstone" not only killed off John Dutton, but did so in a way that was free from the involvement of former star Kevin Costner, who exited the western drama over scheduling issues and more.

Costner's first comments on the show's finale come days after Grimes said Costner's departure made it “the easiest season we’ve filmed.”

Kevin Costner kept his comments brief when questioned about former Yellowstone co-star Luke Grimes' recent remarks that alluded to some off-screen tension. Costner, who played the role of John Dutton III was written out in the latter part of the show's fifth and final season.
