The ICC has finally reached a breakthrough in the 2025 Champions Trophy impasse, with a hybrid model agreed upon that will see India's matches in the eight-team event taking place at a neutral venue.

Matches between politically-estranged rivals India and Pakistan at ICC events that either nation is due to host will be played at neutral venues, the International Cricket Council said on Thursday ending uncertainty over next year's Champions Trophy.

"The arrangement (hybrid-model) will apply to two major ICC events next year - the men's Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the women's ODI World Cup in India. It will also be in place for the men's T20 World Cup in 2026, which India will co-host alongside Sri Lanka, and the women's T20 World Cup in 2028 in Pakistan," the ICC said.

After prolonged negotiations, India and Pakistan's cricket teams will play ICC event matches at neutral venues due to security and political concerns. This arrangement extends to several upcoming tournaments,

The iconic trophy will next be heading to South Africa. The schedule for the tournament is expected to be revealed in the next few days.

While the Champions Trophy is set to be held between February 19 and March 9, the schedule had not been announced due to the impasse over this issue. The PCB had categorically opposed the hybrid model but eventually agreed to it on reciprocal grounds.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan and a neutral venue whereas the ICC has approved of a hybrid model until 2028.
