Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions wide receiver Javonnie Gibson has committed to transfer to the Oklahoma Sooners, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Javonnie Gibson played his high school football at Opelousas in Louisiana.

The Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver room is undergoing massive turnover this offseason. Deion Burks and Jayden Gibson will return, and they’ll have a new face in the wide receiver room. Oklahoma earned a commitment from Arkansas-Pine Bluff wide receiver Javonnie Gibson via the transfer portal on Wednesday.

Wideouts coach Emmett Jones faces a massive rebuild as OU has lost six wide receivers off the 2024 roster to the transfer portal, some after enduring season-ending injuries: Nic Anderson, Andrel Anthony, JJ Hester, Jaquaize Pettaway and Jalil Farooq. In all, 25 Sooners have entered the transfer portal since it opened on Dec. 9.

The Oklahoma Sooners have been active reloading the offensive side of the ball in the transfer portal. On Wednesday, they added John Mateer, the top quarterback in the transfer portal, along with Javonnie Gibson and Keontez Lewis,

Lewis joins a wide receiver group that includes a returning Deion Burks and Jayden Gibson and a group of talented former four-star prospects Zion Kearney, Zion Ragins, and Ivan Carreon, walk-on standout Jacob Jordan, as well as true freshmen Elijah Thomas and Emmanuel Choice.

Keontez Lewis began his career at UCLA and was in the rotation at Wisconsin but eventually transferred to Southern Illinois.

Oklahoma's offensive line had its struggles last season. The unit fought injuries throughout the season and suffered from inconsistent play as a result. To fix that unit next season, Oklahoma has been hard at work in the transfer portal,
