Kansas State football has not had much luck with alternate uniforms under coach Chris Klieman. They Wildcats give it another try in the Rate Bowl.

K-State has modified its uniforms only seven times since 2009, and the Wildcats haven’t won a game in alternate gear since 2013. Klieman has mixed things up four times since he took over as coach in 2019 and the Wildcats have gone 0-4 in those games, with losses to Baylor (2019), West Virginia (2019), Navy (2019) and Tulane (2022).

As Kansas State gears up for the Rutgers Scarlet Knight, storylines have been flying around regarding the transfer portal, new recruits, and possible breakout performances. But a more light-hearted note was the Wildcats getting to unveil their new uniforms in the Rate Bowl.

Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats will debut a special white-helmet, all-white pants uniform combo against Rutgers in the Rate Bowl on Dec. 26, giving K-State seniors a memorable send-off and fans a fresh look at this classic rivalry.

Kansas State football has released its depth chart for its bowl game and as anticipated it revealed new starters at four positions as well as some other reshuffling from the regular season. The Wildcats (8-4) will face Rutgers (7-5) in the Rate Bowl at 4:30 p.m. central time Dec. 26 in Phoenix.

Athan Kaliakmanis led the Scarlet Knights with 2,459 passing yards this season. Kyle Monangai rushed for 1,279 yards and 13 touchdowns out of the backfield. Linebacker Dariel Djabome led the defense with 102 tackles. Rutgers won its only meeting against Kansas State 37-10 at the 2006 Texas Bowl.
