Donald Trump has promised to carry out the biggest mass deportations in history during his second term—which would not only be cruel to the millions directly affected, but also disastrous for the country as a whole. As my colleague Isabela Dias wrote earlier this year :

President-elect Donald Trump says he would "look at" a pardon for New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who has been indicted on corruption charges.

"I would certainly look at it," Trump said Monday, as news broke that Adams had been denied matching funds and one of his closest advisers could soon be indicted.
