Health officials across the DMV are warning the public after a measles case was confirmed in Maryland and at the Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). On Sunday, the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) announced that a Howard County resident tested positive for measles.

The health department said there may have been exposures at Dulles’s international arrivals area and a Howard County pediatric emergency department.

Health officials in Maryland have confirmed the state's first measles case for the year amid expanding outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico. The Maryland Department of Health said in a statement Sunday that a Howard County resident with recent international travel history has tested positive for the highly contagious disease.
