WASHINGTON, D. C. - Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday decried the “senseless” killing of Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Henderson as he marked National Police Week by welcoming several dozen police officers to a breakfast at his official residence.
The resolution passed in advance of the Committee’s executive business meeting on Thursday, where eight bipartisan bills in support of law enforcement are expected to be considered. During Durbin’s time as Chair, the Committee advanced fourteen bills unanimously during National Police Week.
President Donald Trump declared May 11 through May 17 as National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day as its typical date of May 15.
