On December 10, about 60 INDIA bloc MPs had submitted a notice for a motion to remove Dhankhar as Rajya Sabha chairman.

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh on Thursday rejected the no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition against Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, calling it "an act of impropriety" to "mar the reputation of the chairman".

At least 60 Opposition MPs submitted a notice seeking removal of Dhankhar, accusing him of conducting proceedings of the House in a “partisan manner”.

Earlier this month, at least 60 opposition lawmakers signed the notice for the removal of Dhankhar from his post of the Rajya Sabha chairman, alleging that they did not have trust in him and that he was "biased.

The ruling by RS Deputy Chairman calls notice “a calculated attempt for publicity, to run down the institution, and insinuate the image of Vice President – notably, the first from the agricultural community”.
