A Myanmar ethnic rebel group has captured a military regional command in Rakhine state, it said, in what would be a major blow to the junta.

Myanmar's rebel Arakan Army claims to have seized a key military headquarters in Rakhine state, marking the second fallen regional command for the junta. This follows renewed fighting after a ceasefire collapsed last November.

The AA’s progress has been slowed by regime artillery units in the Rakhine Mountains, which are relentlessly shelling the clash site at the junta HQ in Ann Township.
