The Red Sox have already bolstered their starting rotation this offseason by trading for Chicago White Sox southpaw Garrett Crochet. But could Boston also be in the running for one of the top young pitchers in baseball in Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki?

The Boston Red Sox haven't made much noise since the Garrett Crochet trade. Have they been lying in waiting for something even bigger? Boston did well to add Crochet, a 25-year-old potential ace, to its rotation for at least the next two seasons.

Even after acquiring the top-of-the-rotation ace they have been missing since Chris Sale was shut down with an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery after the 2019 season, the Boston Red Sox have made no secret of the fact that upgrading their pitching staff remains the team’s top offseason priority.
