Alan Carr is back to host the charity event, having last been on hosting duties in 2021 - which is somehow three years ago. But for 2024 he will be joined by Amanda Holden, the BGT judge and radio host. It is the first time the show has had two hosts since 2019, when Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan were on duty.

The Royal Variety Performance, presented by Amanda Holden and Alan Carr, saw a number of stars take to the stage and perform in front of King Charles III and the Queen.

It is scheduled to start on ITV at 8pm tonight and will run until 10.40pm. It means the broadcast will run for almost three hours - including adverts. ITV once again will be broadcasting the recorded version of the Royal Variety Performance this year. Viewers can catch it on ITV1 and also on ITVX, which will also carry live coverage.

Holden and Carr were given the job of co-hosting the evening. Holden, 53, began by stating that both of them looked like a “disappointing Love Island couple”.
