In September, we’ll know whether or not The Office spin-off actually works. The Paper won’t premiere on broadcast TV like its predecessor—an unfortunate sign of the times, but Peacock probably still needs the subscriber boost to justify its existence.
The show, in which the documentary crew from The Office lands on a new subject, is called The Paper. It follows the publisher (Domhnall Gleeson) and staff of a historic but struggling newspaper in Toledo, Ohio.
Titled “The Paper,” the half-hour sitcom will follow staffers of a struggling, historic Toledo newspaper, named The Truth Teller, and shot in the same documentary crew style of its predecessor, which launched the careers of Steve Carell, John Krasinski and Mindy Kaling among others.
