Amazon workers are on strike outside a warehouse in Maspeth, Queens, along with other locations around the country. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters said it represents nearly 10,000 Amazon workers who are demanding better pay and working conditions.

Thousands of workers are striking, as picket lines formed outside seven Amazon distribution centers from New York to California Thursday morning.

Amazon warehouse workers in San Francisco and six other facilities around the nation went out on strike Thursday to try to force the e-commerce giant to negotiate with them. As part of a nationwide labor action organized by the Teamsters union — which the Teamsters called the largest-ever against Amazon — about 40 people picketed outside of the company’s facility at 749 Toland St.

The action, during one of the busiest shopping times of the year, comes as the company has so far refused to negotiate with the workers, who recently voted to join the Teamsters union.
