More changes could be on the way for the PGA Tour. That might include the use of rangefinders to speed play and even disclosing violations and fines related to pace of play.

Perhaps the least surprising thing the PGA Tour has learned since it launched its Fan Forward survey initiative last June is that it has a pace-of-play problem. What it intends to do about it has yet to be determined,

The SI Golf staff debates slow play remedies, exotic playoff formats, Pebble Beach as a signature event and deeper meanings in a canceled LPGA event.

Among the changes that will be tried out: testing the use of distance-measuring devices, publicizing pace-of-play data for players, and disclosing fines and penalties for slow-play violators.

If you want proof that time is, indeed, a flat circle, there's no better evidence than golf's slow-play debate. PGA Tour players, commentators, and fans talk about this issue every single year. And yet nothing ever seems to change.
