Ontario has placed a surcharge of 25 per cent on electricity exported to the United States as of Monday, and the government says it could raise that amount even higher in response to further American escalation.

"Republicans, at least the ones I speak to, do not agree with President Trump, but they are too scared to go out there and say it publicly," Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Monday in Toronto. "It's a shame but we need to end this.
