Since the tomb is the only monument honouring a woman from a period when females had fewer rights and recognition it holds a greater significance in present times

The tomb is of the mother of an admiral who is believed to have inspired the character of the ill-tempered Captain Haddock in Belgium author Herge's 'Adventures of Tintin'.

A historic 300-year-old tomb linked to the Tintin comic book series is among the locations added to the National Heritage List for England this year.
