The San Jose Sharks announced they have recalled goaltender Yaroslav Askarov from their AHL affiliate San Jose Barracuda. Askarov was sent back to the AHL on Nov. 26 after playing his first two games for the Sharks where he posted a 1-0-1 record with a .927 SP and 1.96 GAA.

With Vanecek now unavailable, the Sharks recalled goalie Yaroslav Askarov from the Barracuda on Wednesday morning. He and Alexander Georgiev will form the Sharks’ goalie tandem for the foreseeable future, starting with Thursday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche at SAP Center.

On Tuesday, back-up Vitek Vanecek was struck with an errant puck while sitting on the bench.He left the game, and starter Alexandar Georgiev was backed up by an EBUG for the rest of the Sharks’ 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
