An embattled behavioral health company behind a pair of shuttered youth treatment facilities in Detroit is facing a lawsuit over a former supervisor’s alleged sexual abuse of three teenaged girls who were housed there.

The plaintiffs, all referred to as Jane Does, filed the civil lawsuit Tuesday against the Detroit Behavioral Institute in Wayne Circuit Court. The case also names the institute's parent company, Acadia Healthcare, which attorney Parker Stinar said owns more than 250 youth residential treatment facilities in the U.S.

A new lawsuit alleges that children at the Detroit Behavioral Institute suffered sexual abuse for years. Those who reported the abuse were allegedly subjected to retaliation both at the hands of staff and patients.
