Chase Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing had their penalties rescinded Wednesday by the National Motorsports Appeals Panel. The decision means that Briscoe gets the 100 points and 10 playoff points NASCAR had penalized him for a spoiler violation after the Daytona 500.

Chase Briscoe was given his 100 points back from a penalty he received at Daytona for a modified single source part. Following an appeal, Joe Gibbs Racing was able to convince the appeals panel that it was a NASCAR manufacturing issue,

Chase Briscoe was struck with an L2 penalty during the Daytona 500, which has been reversed by the National Motorsports Appeals Panel.

The National Motorsports Appeals Panel overturned the L2-level penalty levied against the No. 19 team and Chase Briscoe.

Chase Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing won their appeal when the National Motorsports Appeals Panel said his Toyota did not have an illegally modified spoiler when he won the Daytona 500 pole.

Joe Gibbs Racing won its appeal of a 100-point penalty assessed to Briscoe’s No. 19 team after the Daytona 500. Briscoe had been penalized for modifications to the base of the spoiler of his car. He qualified on the pole for the 500 and finished fourth.

The National Motorsports Appeals Panel determined that Briscoe’s team did not intentionally modify a standardized part at Daytona 500.

The Appeals Panel has sided with Joe Gibbs Racing, reversing Briscoe’s harsh Daytona penalty and putting him right back in the Cup Series fight.
