An Indian court on Friday dismissed a petition challenging the award of a contract to Adani Group to revamp one of Asia's largest slums in Mumbai, clearing one of the main legal challenges to the ambitious project.

Dubai-based Seclink Technology Corporation had challenged the July 2023 government resolution to formally award the Dharavi slum redevelopment project to Adani Properties as the lead partner.

On Friday, the Bombay High Court upheld the tender awarded to Adani Properties Private Limited by the Maharashtra government for the Dharavi slum redevelopment project in Mumbai.

Reuters reviewed 19 state government documents, many of them previously unreported, and interviewed more than two dozen state and federal officials about the deal, as well as independent energy and legal professionals.

Bangladesh has accused the Gautam Adani-led company of not passing on tax benefits related to a power plant critical to the deal.

The announcement was made during the 2024 Bihar Business Connect investor summit in Patna, where the group emphasized its commitment to creating over 77,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state.
