Big Lots appears to be shutting down all operations, announcing layoffs of hundreds of employees at its corporate headquarters in Columbus, including CEO Bruce Thorn.

Big Lots is laying off 555 workers at its corporate headquarters following the collapse of its deal to be acquired out of bankruptcy.

Big deals are headed to Big Lots, as the company prepares to close nearly 1,000 stores across the U.S. The company has already closed more than 400 stores this year after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September.
