Family members of a Black motorist fatally shot by a southwestern Washington deputy during a traffic stop have settled their wrongful death lawsuit for $3.5 million.

The suspect allegedly fired at a vehicle around 6 a.m. in the 12500 block of Lake City Way Northeast before barricading in an apartment with three other people.

The department says the person has barricaded themselves into an apartment, and is considered armed and dangerous.

Police say the 47-year-old woman "intentionally" hit a person with a truck last month and drove off after the incident.
