Bank of England policymakers split over whether to cut interest rates on Thursday with more officials than expected seeking to help the slowing economy with lower borrowing costs despite lingering inflation pressure.

The U.K.’s central bank has warned about “heightened uncertainty” as it kept interest rates on hold after inflation moved further above target even at a time when the British economy is flatlining at best.

Analysts are forecasting rates will stay at 4.75% after inflation rose for the second month in a row.
