GloRilla is giving back in a big way just in time for the holidays. The 25-year-old rapper, a 2017 graduate of Melrose High School in Memphis, surprised students at her alma mater on Wednesday with a donation of $25,000 to enhance the school’s educational resources.

Growing up in Memphis, GloRilla has always stayed connected to her roots. She took to social media to share the moment, telling her fans how important it was to give back to the place where it all began for her.

The Memphis-born performer has become one of industry's most promising voices with her genuine character, rap flow and unmistakable Southern drawl.

To show gratitude for her donation, Melrose High Principal Kristopher Davis said they would rename their school library Gloria H. Woods Media Center. “We want to upgrade our system so students can be more interactive, so they can research and take their learning to the next level,” Principal Davis said.
