Rivian is rolling out a new software update that delivers Google Cast support and a YouTube app, as promised earlier in 2024.

Google announced in the spring that it would be updating Android for Cars with a casting feature. Rivian seems to be the first manufacturer to take advantage of the tech. The Google updates are just the latest collaboration for the company.

Rivian has made new entertainment options available to its EV car owners through a software update. They include Google Cast and a native YouTube app. And SiriusXM is now available as an integrated feature.

Google and Rivian teamed up to announce that Rivian vehicles would “soon” support Google Cast from phones to the big screen in cabin, plus a native YouTube app would bring an improved or native YouTube experience.

Electric vehicle maker Rivian is unveiling new features for its R1S and R1T vehicles, including the addition of SiriusXM.

Netflix is still unavailable, but owners can use other apps like Disney+ and Max to cast videos to their vehicle's screen. Rivian R1S and R1T owners now have access to a native YouTube app inside their vehicles.
