Jets prevail in battle of NHL’s best, win OT thriller against Capitals
The Capitals overcame a two-goal, third-period deficit, with Alex Ovechkin scoring the tying goal at 12:21, before the Jets prevailed 5-4 in overtime for their sixth straight win. Defenseman Josh Morrissey, who will represent Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off from Feb. 12-20, scored the game-winning goal at 1:57.

Jets Overcome Caps in OT, 5-4
Winnipeg brought a five-game winning streak into town with it, and the Jets brought the heat in the first frame. They hopped out to a 1-0 lead on a Cole Perfetti power-play goal at 9:13; Perfetti was perfectly positioned to put back the rebound of a Vladislav Namestnikov shot to give the visitors an early lead.

The NHL salary cap is going up significantly next season, with even bigger increases set for the coming years. The league and the Players’ Association on Friday released the cap numbers for the next three seasons: $95.
