Oxford United have appointed Garry Rowett as their new head coach. The former Millwall and Birmingham City boss takes over the struggling Championship side following the departure of Des Buckingham at the weekend.

Oxford United are delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Rowett as Head Coach of the Men’s First Team. Rowett brings more than a decade of Championship managerial experience, with a career that has seen him take charge at Burton Albion, Birmingham City, Derby County, Stoke City and Millwall.

Oxford United have today confirmed Gary Rowett as their new head coach ahead of tomorrow's clash with Leeds United. Rowett replaces Des Buckingham, who was sacked following their home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
