Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump, said Saturday that she's removing herself from consideration to be a Florida senator — ending speculation that she could replace Republican Sen.

Lara Trump said she’s removing her name from consideration for a US Senate seat that’s expected to open up in Florida, according to a post on her X account.

President-elect Donald Trump had indicated to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that he wanted his daughter-in-law to be appointed.

Lara Trump, former RNC co-chair and President-elect Trump's daughter-in-law, said Saturday she is withdrawing from consideration to replace Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate.

The incoming president announced Rubio as his Secretary of State choice in November. Earlier this month, Lara Trump stepped down as RNC co-chair to “heavily consider” taking on the role in Congress's upper chamber.
