Steve Smith was able to make up for his dropped catch on the first ball of play against India with a stunning grab off Nathan Lyon's bowling following his bizarre warm-up request. Australia were looking for immediate wickets against India having started the day on 4-51 as rain continued to disrupt play throughout the Test match at the Gabba.

Later, Rahul went on to hit a half-century and was batting at 84 when Smith redeemed himself and took a stunner to dismiss the Indian batter. This time, spinner Nathan Lyon trapped Rahul, who tried to hit a boundary but ended up touching the thick edge on the ball.

First ball of the fourth day and Steve Smith dropped a dolly at the second slip, giving a reprieve to KL Rahul, who has been India’s best batter so far in this Test. It was a shocker from Steve Smith. Pat Cummins induced a thick edge and Smith couldn’t hold on to it. KL Rahul tapped his head in surprise as he also couldn’t believe his luck.
