Stringent safety and operational conditions vowed as Vineyard Wind begins anew to install blades south of Martha's Vineyard.

Vineyard Wind said the work resumed on Saturday and continued through the weekend after the federal Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement approved plans to proceed with the installation of three turbine blades in October.

The town of Nantucket served notice Friday that Vineyard Wind resumed turbine blade installation while also calling for "urgent action" regarding another 147-turbine offshore wind power project.

The work comes months after a blade broke off and sent debris and fiberglass into the water and onto beaches along the Cape and Islands.

Vineyard Wind officials say that they have returned to attaching blades to turbine towers at its offshore wind farm more than a dozen miles off the Island, following a malfunction in July that temporarily suspended construction.
