West Virginia University football coach Rich Rodriguez announced Pat Kirkland as the special teams coordinator and defensive assistant coach Tuesday afternoon.

Pat Kirkland will serve as the Mountaineers’ special teams coordinator and defensive assistant, according to a new release from WVU Athletics. Head coach Rich Rodriguez made the announcement Tuesday, marking the third time he has joined forces with Kirkland, who coached under Rodriguez at Jacksonville State and previously at West Virginia.

Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator Zac Alley is being reunited with Rich Rodriguez at West Virginia. Rodriguez, who was hired for his second stint as West Virginia's coach on Dec. 12, announced Sunday that he hired the 31-year-old Alley as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
